Double Headers

If it's Thursday, then it must be baseball.

Here, Miller uses the little-known "cobra technique" in baseball. He lulls the opposing team with a wiggle of his bat before striking the ball up the middle and racing to first for a single.

Here, Henry fields the ball near the pitcher's mound and tosses to first for the out.

Chicago Parks

Sometimes our focus on the parks of Oak Park

...occurs at the expense of the world-class parks next door in Chicago. Saturday was not one of those days - we ventured into Chicago to take advantage of our neighbor to the East.

And on Sunday we did chores around the house.

Lovely Night for a Ball Game

Miller and Henry were both great competitors during an evening of firsts on the baseball diamond.

Miller got to play pitcher for the first time and even recorded an out (though Daddy failed to record it on film).

Henry got to play first base for the first time and made some great plays there.

The sunset wasn't a bad backdrop.

And we even had time for some dance moves at third base.

Zoo Nights

Took the kids to the Brookfield Zoo this evening for a picnic dinner and some entertainment.

We checked the Amur Tiger out.

We watched the playful snow leopards frolicking in their habitat.

The pygmy hippos.

And of course we took a spin on the carousel.

We also began a new baseball league this week for both boys. Miller LOVES his new uniform.

Michigan Time!

What another wonderful vacation in Union Pier, Michigan.

Frannie was so excited to be there, that the second we walked in, she put on her goggles and headed back out.

There you go Fran. That's more like it.

We spent some time drawing pictures.

But we also spent time visiting the beach.

Frannie almost won the hide-and-go-seek competition.

And all the kids enjoyed their evening movie watching.

Miller continued his Michigan streak of falling asleep at restaurants not once, but twice!

We enjoyed some delicious ice cream at Oink's

And we conquered the playgrounds.

The pool.

And the firepit! Careful Henry, that marshmallow's getting crispy.

Miller has the sticky melted marshmallow hands to prove it!

Let me just check, are these bunny ears working?

Yup, we sure do enjoy our time in Harbor Country.

And we closed out our vacation with a July 4th sunset and fireworks display on the New Buffalo beach.
