Safe and Sound

After spending the last 4 nights in the hospital, with Mommy beside him every night, Henry Jay is safe and sound at home and everyone gets to sleep in their own beds tonight.

Henry had a case pneumonia, caught in the early stages, caused by a case of RSV - a respiratory virus that took a while for him to beat, but beat it he did with a mixture of bravery, strength, good listening, and obedience.

Though there were brief setbacks along the way, he also managed to make some friends with the nurses with his unintentional comedy.

For example, while talking with one nurse who was drinking coffee he explained, "Mommy's do drink a lot of coffee... But mostly they drink wine."

On the car ride home he explained to Miller, "Now we can be brothers again!" They were holding hands at the time.

Welcome home Henry Jay. You've been missed.

Clean Up in Aisle Couch

Seems Miller had himself a little Cheerio accident on the couch. But at least he was very good about cleaning up after himself. Well, he was remorseful (uh-oh), and obedient about it anyway, if not very thorough.

Bernie Madoff, We're Coming For You

You've made a powerful pint-sized enemy Bernie Madoff (don't ask me how exactly). And he's got plans for what he's gonna do to you:

St. Patrick's Day on the North Side

We headed up to Katy, Patrick, Liam, and Baby Madeline's neighborhood for St. Patrick's Day this year, just like last year.

What a difference a year makes. For example, we had a new attendee this year.

But some things stay the same. Henry's looking forward to Spring, and has begun his own spring training regimen

No Mommy and Miller (just like last year), they had to make a quick doctor's run. But everyone's fine.

Don't Get Mad

Get Eaten.

I don't know about you, but when I get mad, nothing soothes me more than taking a bite out of the toilet paper roll. Oh Milly Mills.

The next day you could find them curled up together under a blanket on the floor. Just relaxing on an afternoon when it was too cold to go outside.

But they didn't spend the whole afternoon just lounging around. Henry wanted to ride his bike around the house. I protested, but not to vigorously, after all, what's a kid to do? I did make him wear his helmet. And it provided hours of entertainment, while I took another step in locking up the 'poor fathering,' award. We'll just file this one under "things Mommy wouldn't allow, but Daddy did."

St. Patty's Day?

There were people dressed in green, and there was plenty of beer was being served, but something about the frigid cold and snow made the St. Patty's Day parade in Forest Park yesterday feel a little... off.

How do put a diaper on a baby who's determined not to wear a diaper? Who's putting up a fight and using all of his superhuman baby strength? Ingenuity. Drop a leg over him to pin him down and get to work.
