Merry Christmas Everyone!

We'll update soon with pictures and movies, but we wanted to wish everyone a very merry Christmas.

A quick funny story.

We went to church in Oak Park yesterday (one of the 18), and one of the songs was finished by a woman playing a couple of bells for a moment. During the brief silence that ensued Henry, quietly, but still loudly enough that all the people around us heard him, began to sing, "Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, jingle all the way..."

Laughter. So cute!!

Santa came to our house last night and he was very very good to all of us. We're enjoying a terrific Christmas at home, just the four of us, and tomorrow we head to New Jersey to continue spreading the Christmas cheer.

Merry Christmas everyone!

My Favorite Parts of Today

Ali had a lot of work to get done today, so I took the boys out in our minivan (the loaner we have while our bumper is replaced) to brave the elements and see if we could soak up some holiday spirit.

What were my favorite parts of today?

While playing in the basement this morning, I overheard Henry telling Miller, "I don't want you to go to jail Miler, never ever. Don't go to jail, never ever ever. I want you to stay here with me Miller. Don't ever go to jail Miller, that's for naughty boys."

Driving around listening to holiday music, and after a moment Henry exclaims, "Dad, Frosty the Snowman!" I said sure Henry, you know this song, and he began to sing along loudly to it, serenading me and Miller.

In the minivan, the boys sit next to each other all the way in the back seat and they both face forward. With them right next to each other they can come into contact with each other, for good and for bad. I watched Henry kick Miller's foot, and poke him in the eye for a good 10 minutes without Miller ever making a peep in protest. I think Henry was just amusing himself, but it was amazing to watch Miller just take it all in stride, with one eye partially closed.

Later, Henry fell asleep and Miller, still awake in his seat, kept reaching over trying to grab Henry's hand to hold it. Ali told me that they've been spending a lot of their time in the back seat of the minivan holding hands, like this:

Not too long after that Miller also fell asleep and I got a peaceful moment looking in the rear view mirror, seeing both boys sleeping in their seats, the holiday music playing, a blizzard wailing outside, while we drove around in our loaner minivan.

But as peaceful a moment as that was, I think my favorite part of the day was this:

Happy birthday Nana!!

Weekends in December

We'll start with Friday night. While Daddy was in charge of watching the boys, he allowed this to happen:

Saturday morning started out a little better. We began with snow falling and a visit with Santa.

Then we got dressed to go play in the snow and do some sledding

Then there was a whole bunch of silliness and merriment leading up to and through dinner. First, Miller had to take some phone calls while he was reading his books. I imagine this will be him talking on the phone while doing his homework when he's older.

Then he got another phone call while he was finishing his dinner.

Then Henry was a dinner-eating walrus who sang Frosty the Snowman in a number of different personae including an old man and a baby, but not his teacher Mrs. Bera!

Then Miller had a great time playing with a paper towel tube and Mommy put on a monkey puppet show before we headed off to bath time and bed.

Miller Would Like His Breakfast Please

I love how excited Miller gets for breakfast. And lunch. And snacks. And dinner. And his sippy cup. He's not talking quite yet, at least not with any words we recognize, but he's very good at getting his point across.

Watch how he clenches his fists with excitement, that's my favorite part.

"Kiedrowski Residence, Henry Speaking, How May I Help You Today?"

We got all dressed up to go to Peter John's Christening on Sunday.

Though some parts may have seemed a little boring to the boys...

At least we had some snacks to ensure we were on our best behavior, or our pacifier in Peter John's case.

Reindeer X-ing

Guess who we saw in Edina today?

Yes, but not just Peter, Mary, and Peter John. We also saw Santa and his reindeer Dancer and Prancer, who took us a for a ride in their sleigh.

And all of these photos were taken by Libby and her brand new Nikon D3000

Henry Jay & Goldy

Poppa is actively cultivating Henry Jay's taste for basketball by bringing him to the Golden Gophers game last night.

He liked the hot dog. He liked the Coke drink. He liked the chocolate ice cream. He liked Goldy the Golden Gopher's mascot. But when asked if he liked the basketball players he said no, they were too large.

Cousins

Cousins, it's not just a great song and video by indie band Vampire Weekend, it's also a growing part of our family!

Congratulations to Peter and Mary on the birth of Peter John on October 10. It was a pleasure finally getting to meet you this weekend and size you up against your chunky-legged cousin Miller.

And congratulations to Jessica and Jim on the birth of Charles Bear on November 19. We can't wait to meet you next month in New Jersey!!
