New Tricks

Henry has a couple new tricks I thought we'd put on display.

Henry's a very good reader even if it's just a catalog. As long as the topic is trucks Henry will enjoy reading it or having it read to him. The typical storyline of a catalog for toy trucks is something like, "that digger digs, that digger digs too, that digger digs too, dump truck."

Henry also likes to whistle ever since Yaya taught him how. Though his tactic may be a little off the sentiment is the same.

Henry also loves his little brother Miller and frequently talks to him (and occasionally for him) and likes looking at him (as evidenced by yesterday's post-bath posting). We were driving to the Brookfield Zoo last week and Henry started asking Miller what he wanted to see at the zoo. He was also generous enough to provide answers for Miller as well. Ali grabbed the camera to film it and we prodded the one-sided discussion along a bit further.

And then there's Miller. He doesn't have many tricks just yet. He enjoys looking around, making faces, yawning, sleeping, and eating. About half of those items were captured in this 40-second clip.

I Spy

These pictures were taken just after Henry's bath tonight while he checked in on Miller in his crib.

Out for a Stroll

Today the weather in Chicago eased up and we took the family out in the new double-wide stroller for a spin around town.

Brothers Don't Shake Hands...

Brothers Gotta Hug!! Or so goes the line in the movie Tommy Boy

And now I've witnessed it first hand.

Henry could not have been any cuter or any more sweet when he met his little brother today. And Miller couldn't have been anymore understanding during the near-smothering that took place. Between Henry's hugs and the pawing of his little baby brother's face, Miller's lucky he had Mommy there to ensure he had some space of his own. All in all they hit it off fantastically and I (with an assist from Jay) caught the whole thing on video. Unfortunately the hospital is blocking me from accessing Youtube while I'm here, so I haven't been able to post it yet, so the pics of this momentous occasion will have to suffice for now.

When Henry came into the room to see Mommy, Miller was laying in his crib, so Henry was able to climb up into the hospital bed and get his Mommy hugs first, unimpeded. Then Henry noticed the squeaks and little movements coming from the crib next to the bed. Henry saw a baby! And he wanted to hold it and hug it. So we pulled Miller into bed, and the little Henry-Mommy hug-fest. And after many loving and excited embraces and a couple of Henry kisses on Miller's cheek it was time for Henry to open the present Miller got him. A big new digger truck! After that Henry wasn't too interested in the baby, but he does know that he is the big brother, the baby is the little brother, and the baby's name is Miller (he pronounces it Mee-yuh)

Just think, in 40 years maybe the pics of them will look a little more like this

Miller Edison Ohlhoff

Joining the clan at 10 AM this morning. Weighing in at 8 lbs 2 oz (1.6 oz to be technical, I saw the scale, but they round up), and 21" long is Miller Edison Ohlhoff! And he's a smart little guy, he's already tried nursing both sides.

Mommy is doing well, a little groggy.

But what you're really here for...
