Big Day Tomorrow

We add another Minihoff to the family tomorrow. Can't wait to meet you little Minihoff number two (or three I guess, technically). I wonder what it will be.

Baby boy, or baby girl?

A question for us to sleep on I guess, briefly, because we'll be up at 5 AM to head to the hospital.

More news tomorrow!

Just the 3 of Us

And on our last weekend as a threesome...

We hit the farmers market.

We went to Daddy-and-me sports class -- hockey was the sport this week. Henry was really good once I got him to stop winding up with the stick trying to use it as a bat. Prior to that he was a high-sticking machine. But he was dressed for the occasion in his Blackhawks sweater.

And we went apple picking. We had to stock up our supply of Honeycrisp apples, as Henry and I are easily eating three a day. The orchard also featured a petting zoo and a tractor.

FULL TERM

Today, we're full term. And in case you're curious what a full term Ali belly looks like, just check out the background in this photo. I was goofing around with the camera on my new phone, and it couldn't help but capture the wonderful belly just entering the frame.

Birthday Recap Part II

Everybody likes birthday pictures but the birthday videos add so much more.

Maybe the pinata was just a little too high, maybe the bat was just a little too short, but in the end, the pinata burst open courtesy of big boy Wells and out came the candy. The funny part is that when the candy flew out, Henry was right on top of it. But he had no interest in grabbing and hoarding the candy to himself, instead, he bent over and took to yanking the candy out of the pinata and spreading it across the ground while the rest of the kids pounced on the saccharine bounty.

We thought the cake was out of his reach when we settled him into his seat at the edge of the counter. We were wrong. And before the singing began, Henry had icing up to his elbows. And it only got messier from there. Just the way the birthday boy should celebrate.

And then there was the singing. Do yourself and lower the volume on your computer if you value your ears and your senses. The joy of this video is not in hearing the song, but in watching little Henry Jay take it all in. Like he knows everyone is singing just for him, and he couldn't be happier about it.

Happy birthday Henry Jay. And thanks for coming out to visit and helping us celebrate and for all of your help Poppop and Pat! We love you and miss you!

Birthday Recap

Somebody just couldn't wait until after his Happy Birthday song to get his hands on his cake. His hands, wrists, forearms and much of his face, for that matter.

Henry Jay's second birthday party was a magnificent success. The day started with our first Daddy-and-me sports class through the OP park district. Today's sport was soccer. We started with stretching
then we moved on to ball control

and then we tried to keep a little boy interested in soccer, when what he really wanted to do was sit in the nearby baseball diamond and play in the dirt

Then it was time for the party. There was dancing.

Playing with diggers and dump trucks.

Holding hands with Isa

Opening far too many presents from far too many generous people. Books, trucks, and a bowling set! (Of course Henry used the pins like a bat, to hit the bowling ball, but he goes with what's familiar)

And what birthday party would be complete without a dump truck pinata?

I'd also like to take the opportunity to post some other recent photos of the birthday boy.

Like from the recent trip to the Brookfield Zoo with Aunt Libby (Babu).

And Labor Day weekend at Aunt Linda and Uncle John's getting story time with cousin Liam

He's a Happy Boy

And I don't think he even knows that he has a birthday party coming up this Saturday.

He's also well-fed.

Henry had his two year old check up this week and he's in the 75th percentile for height and the 50th percentile for weight. Sounds like maybe he needs another bowl of macaroni and cheese to go with that fruit salad.

We're getting very excited for his party this Saturday. So is he, ever since he saw the dump truck pinata that we had delivered.

Watch out, Minnesotans

Please excuse the bathroom humor -- thought this was too funny not to share.

Mommy: "Henry, do you have poopies?"

Henry: "No, Mommy. No have poopies. Poopies go bye-bye."

Mommy: "Oh, really? Where did they go?"

Henry: "To Minnesota."
