Henry Jay at the Lincoln Park Zoo

Yesterday Henry and Mommy went on a play date with Wendy and Isabel to the Lincoln Park Zoo. Since it was the warmest day of the year so far this free, open-aired zoo was crowded. Luckily Henry was still able to get a prime spot to watch the polar bear go for a swim and to see the giraffes.

And just to take things up a notch on the cuteness scale, I understand that Isabelle (who turned 2 last weekend) and Henry held hands much of the day, though it was not caught on film.

Hi-Ho Silver, Away!

Did I mention that Henry Jay loves his horsey? He climbs on and rides, and even knows what a horse says.

HJ and the Work Day

What better way to spend the last few hours of a Friday than getting a visit from your beautiful wife and kid at the office, walking across the street into one of the most beautiful urban parks in America, and enjoying some of the first 70+ degree weather of the year?

Spring finally seems to have sprung in Chicago this year. Yay!!

Opening Day in Chicago

Today is opening day for the Cubbies at Wrigley. A cold dreary rainy day with a game that most likely will be rained out. But not everybody needs sunshine to play baseball. Or a team for that matter. Some kids can just boil it down to its essence: a ball, a bat, and youthful exuberance.

Play ball Henry!!

Happy Easter!

I know one little boy who was very excited when he looked out the back door this morning and saw that he had been visited by the Easter bunny. He couldn't wait to get outside, so rather than bother to get him dressed we just let him loose in the yard in his jacket and his pjs.

You may also wonder as one commenter did, why in some of the photos you can see he is carrying his bat? The answer is, Henry tries his best not go anywhere without his bat.

He also liked his Peep so much that I couldn't even grab the camera and snap the picture before he stuffed the last little bit of yellow marshmallowy goo in his mouth.

We even got dressed up for the occassion!

Cowboys and Keychains

Another week and another new fascination for Henry. Now he loves keys. He'll stand at a door with a set of keys and try with a surprising degree of calm and purpose to get one of his keys to fit the keyhole on all the doors in the house. He'll rotate through each key on the ring - try a key, can't get it to fit, try the next one. Even while we're driving he'll protest from the backseat because he sees, and therefore needs, requires, the keys that are hanging from the ignition.

Today we also set up a wonderful new toy Henry got from Michelle and Alan - a red rocking horse. Though Henry kept trying to get on the horse while Daddy was putting it together, slowing the progress, once the horse was ready for riding, Henry was off to the races.

Here's some videos:

Walking around in Yaya's shoes

Playing tee-ball

Playing with his set of keys in the coat closet

A longer video of a very talkative and affectionate little boy, who also happens to be riding his rocking horse... backwards
