He's earned his wings!

We're one flight down, with three to go over the next week, but if the first flight is any indication for how the next three will be I don't know why I was ever stressing out in the first place. Henry was a little angel on the plane and in the airport. We got through security just fine, he slept for most of the early morning flight to Minneapolis (just like his Dad) and got through take-off and landing without a peep (just like his Mom). I wonder if he slept so well because of all of the books he's been reading - and yes, the title of the book is "The No-Cry Sleep Solution."

Henry is now enjoying his visit with the K's in the Mini-Apple, including meeting Grandpa Joe, Grandma Gen and Aunt Marcie for the first time.

He also got to wrestle with Uncle Pete -- and got the pin! Henry 1, Uncle Pete 0.

Happy Easter!

Henry's first Easter is a very smiley one, as you can see -- and this despite the fact that he still doesn't have this whole "sleeping" thing down. The 7 p.m. routine of his bath, PJs, nursing and then bedtime previously had him sleeping uninterrupted until 1 or 2 a.m., then up for another quick feeding around 4 or 5 a.m. But this last week has seen him waking up as many as four times for feedings and as early as 9 p.m. for the first round.

Maybe it was the visit from Aunt Mary and Uncle Pete that had Henry so fired up, or maybe it was the baby basketball hoop they brought him? Yes, that must be why he's not sleeping as well recently -- all the excitement of visiting family and rim-rocking slam dunks. Though this is taking its toll on his sleep-deprived parents, it's pretty obvious he's still happy as could be.

Have a great Easter, everyone! And Henry also wants to wish a very special happy birthday to GG!

Toeing the line

My days of being able to run to the bathroom knowing that Henry will stay in the same spot I left him are quickly coming to a close. As you'll see in the video below, Henry is *this* close to rolling over. He wants to so badly and tries so hard, but that big 'ol buddha belly of his is proving a formidable obstacle. That, and it seems he may be a little unsure about this transition from newborn lump to on-the-move little boy -- it's as though he's already nostalgic for his youth.

Regardless, we expect him to master the full roll soon, as gravity WILL take over at some point if he keeps up this little dance. We'll be sure to post when it does.

I can't help but think that the shirt is supposed to read "Chunk," not "Hunk." Does that kid look like he's ready for some meals at his new table or what? And by "meals," clearly, I mean a buffet of some sort. The only thing that's missing is him banging silverware in each hand on the table.

In addition to his penchant for screeching, Henry has recently discovered a love for sitting up. It makes no difference to him that he hasn't quite mastered this skill yet (and looks more like he's doing some sort of advanced nose-to-toes yoga pose); all of a sudden, no other position is acceptable. So, we've been helping him out a bit, propping him up in various ways until he gets the hang of it.

Here he is without our assistance...

And with a little help -- much better!

The new obsession with being upright makes bath time an all-new adventure, as I work simultaneously to keep him from A) face-planting into the water, and B) eating the washcloth. Note how I must strategically seat-belt him with one arm as I clean quickly with the other.

Of course, we still do lots of tummy time to strengthen his neck muscles. Looking better all the time, HJ!

Finally, we think he may be starting to teethe. Besides gnawing ferociously on anything he can possibly bring to his mouth, he seems to be drooling a bit more these days...

Happy Pants

I've been looking forward to this for a long time: the day when I give Henry a raspberry on his tummy and he laughs. We're starting to get more than giggles from him now, too. As the following video shows, when Henry's in a good mood, he screams for all the world to hear. Enjoy!
